Safety Signs - Key Notes

KEY NOTES

To support a safe environment, a standard has been set by law on the types of safety sign that can be displayed.

There are 4 categories, and their usage, colour and shape are detailed below.

  1. SAFE CONDITION
    A green background with a white symbol
    Provides information about a safe condition
    Eg. First aid equipment
  2. WARNING
    A yellow triangle with a black border
    Gives a warning of a risk of danger
    Eg. Dangerous substance
  3. PROHIBITION
    A white, circular sign with red border and cross bar running from top left to bottom right
    Prohibits an action
    Eg. No smoking
  4. MANDATORY
    A blue, circular sign with white background.
    States that you must do something
    E.g. Wear protective goggles
