North Lindsey CollegeNorth Lindsey College near Scunthorpe has announced the launch of a new course in September to prepare school leavers and current workers in the industry to qualify as Animal Care Assistants with an option to progress on to their Level 3 Veterinary Course.

Entry requirements are C in Maths, English or Science and 4 grades A-D. 

Sarah Clarke RVN at North Lindsey College said: "Mandatory units include understanding the basic treatment of animals and their accommodation and care through to the principles of infection control as well as animal anatomy and physiology. There are optional units that can be taken which include control and restraint procedures, companion animal pharmacy, parasitology and zoonosis. Also featured are reception duties and valuable work experience opportunities.

She added: “If any member of VetNurse.co.uk has a friend, or member of the family, that would like to get on the first rung of the ladder towards veterinary nursing then this course is ideal.”
