Job Summary
We are a recently opened, award winning Independent Veterinary Practice seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our dynamic veterinary team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to our animal patients, supporting the veterinary surgeons, and ensuring the smooth running of daily clinic operations. This position offers an excellent opportunity for professional development, especially someone looking to progress into a more senior position within a supportive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinary surgeons during surgeries and procedures with clinical support and patient care.
  • Conduct Nursing Consultations and administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as prescribed by the veterinary team.
  • Monitor anaesthetic and post-operative recovery, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
  • Maintain accurate patient records in accordance with legal and professional standards.
  • Support laboratory work including sample collection, processing, and analysis to aid diagnosis.
  • Educate pet owners on health care, treatment plans, and preventative measures.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and organisation of clinical areas, including kennels and surgical suites.
  • Assist with inventory management of medical supplies and pharmaceuticals.

Experience

  • Proven veterinary experience is essential, demonstrating familiarity with clinical procedures and animal handling.
  • Laboratory experience is highly desirable to support diagnostic processes effectively.
  • Prior experience working in a busy veterinary practice or animal hospital is advantageous but not mandatory for highly motivated candidates willing to learn. This role requires a compassionate approach towards animals and their owners, strong organisational skills, and the ability to work effectively within a team environment. The successful applicant will be committed to delivering exceptional animal care while adhering to professional standards and regulations.

Our nurses are hands on and undertake duties in all areas (theatre, in-patient care, lab work, radiography, nurse clinics, schedule 3 tasks, dispensary, in house staff training and VN clinics) 

Salary to commensurate with qualifications & experience.

Practice facilities include Digital Imaging (inc Dental Radiography), Ultrasound, Endoscope, in house Idexx lab suite, Multiparameter, visiting peripatetic specialists in keyhole surgery, orthopaedics & ultrasonography.
