FANCY GOING TO THE BEACH AFTER WORK?
Find out why National Geographic Traveler magazine voted the Pembrokeshire coast the 2nd best destination IN THE WORLD in 2011, why the Huffington Post declared our National Park one the top 5 parks in the world in 2015 and why Countryfile magazine readers voted it the top UK holiday destination in 2018! (It really is THAT good!)
One of our nurses has landed a job as a veterinary nutritionist and we need to replace her (if you have an interest in nutrition as well, that would be awesome!) and now another one of our nurses has landed a job as a head nurse. We are really proud of them and pleased that they are progressing in their careers, but it leaves us with a gap!
With an average working week of 36 hours, you will have plenty of time to explore the 186 miles of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path or visit one of our many beaches that have won Blue Flag, Green Coast or Seaside awards!
We are an independent single site SA practice with a practice design award to our name. Our team consists of 4 vets, 5 RVN's (6 including you), 1 part-time SVN, 3 receptionists and one practice manager. We have a lovely and loyal client base (who we nevertheless still keep outside at the moment!).
With an impressive yearly CPD allowance of £1K our nurses have developed their own areas of interest and have a chance to grow! In normal times they run puppy parties, nutrition and diabetes clinics, do post-op checks, admit and discharge routine patients, deliver laser treatments, take dental and general x-rays and advise our clients.
A rolling 12 week rota means that you know far in advance when you will be working. We do our own OOH, but have on average around 15 call-outs per month, so it is not busy.
We work in a beautiful, grade II listed building with lots of natural light; separate dog, cat and exotic kennels (we provide work for one of the local wildlife charities), a spacious theatre suite, a large nurse consulting room which overlooks the harbour, a decent sized staff room and our outside picnic table on the grass to have lunch at in good weather!
We have a Nomad / CR7 digital dental x-ray system, an Agfa CR x-ray and buckey table, a K-laser, rigid endoscopy, Humphrey ADE's on all anaesthetic machines and in-house biochemistry (the lovely, easy to use, quiet Scil) and haematology machines.
We have previously held in-house training courses for lab work, dentistry and ultrasonography and we have great Christmas parties (we have done murder mysteries, pottery painting, harmony singing and a meal with a magician in the past) and we even had a weekend away in a historic fort in the past!
We are looking for a candidate that is aligned with our values of growth, respect, pride, loyalty, courage and openness, who enjoys being part of a team and values his or her colleagues, who greets every client with a smile and treats every animal with affection and respect. We would like you to relish in taking part in the ongoing development fo our practice, maintain a high standard of work and bring a high level of enthusiasm and commitment to the job. We would expect you to maintain a positive working relationship throughout the practice and help others in the team to achieve their goals.
We sometimes to Open Days and external events and need you to be happy to promote the practice on these occasions.
The starting salary for a newly qualified nurse would be £18,500 p.a.and the holiday allowance is 30 days incl. bank holidays.
If you feel this position is for you and feel you would like to join out work family, please email your CV along with a cover letter to our practice manager Becky at email@example.com or have a chat with Jess, our head nurse or one of the other nurses first if you like!
