Surgical Veterinary Nurse required at Abington Park Vets

Job Description

This role is perfect for a Registered Veterinary Nurse with a love for anaesthesia, imaging and surgery. It is a hands-on role working with patients from admission through to the recovery phase. Our surgical nursing team work closely with our surgeons, assisting with induction of anaesthesia, performing x-ray and CT imaging, patient preparation, anaesthesia, recovery, surgical assistance (scrubbed in) and post-operative rehabilitation. We have dedicated kit team members allowing the surgical nurses to be predominantly theatre and patient based. Our innovative surgical team see a wide variety of procedures including TPLO, Total Hip Replacements, Patella Stabilisations, BOAS, Spinal Surgeries, Fracture repairs, Arthroscopy and Advanced Soft Tissue Surgery.

Shifts are mainly 8am-5pm with a rotation of 10am-7pm shifts. There is a Saturday morning rota of just 1:7 on average, with a full lieu day the week following. There are no OOH/on-call responsibilities with this role, with a healthy work-life balance in mind.

Salary range is £23000-£31000 pa depending on your level of experience and any additional certificates or qualifications you might have, plus generous company benefits

We are a busy referral and first opinion practice with fantastic facilities. Our recently refurbished, purpose built hospital hosts a spacious working environment with direct digital x-ray, CT scanning on site, regular MRI imaging, many multi-parameter monitors, ventilators, fluoroscopy and much more. We strive to build and develop our practice and our team to continually provide optimum care to our patients and clients.

We are looking for a driven qualified RVN with a keenness to learn and an interest in surgery and anaesthesia. Surgical experience is desirable but not essential as all training will be provided through a four stage progression plan, allowing you to build your knowledge and also progress in your role and salary as you go. Salary will be based on experience and qualifications.
