Veterinary Nurse (qualified or 2nd year student) at Abbey Vet Centre
The Role We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced 2nd Year Veterinary Nurse Student or Newly Qualified Registered Veterinary Nurse with a high standard of clinical and client care. The role includes anesthesia/theatre, inpatient care and consults including admissions and discharges. Our Veterinary Nurses are also involved in dispensing medication and maintaining the hygiene and cleanliness of the hospital and equipment.The successful applicant will work a 40-hour week with 1 in 6 Saturdays. The right candidate will work 4-5 days per week. The shift patterns generally will be four long days but there is some flexibility with this. There are no out of hours or on call work.

About Us Abbey Vets is small animal only practice. We have two branches; one in Durham and one in Chester le Street. Durham is a lovely city with excellent transport links to the North and South. Beautiful coast and dales nearby for people who prefer the countryside. Both sites are fully equipped and independent, but you will be expected to work at both branches. Facilities include; digital radiography, dental x-ray, ultrasonography, endoscope, multiparameter, laser and more.
About the Team and Culture We have ten veterinary surgeons, nine registered veterinary nurses, two student veterinary nurses and two auxiliary nurses. Working alongside us we have an excellent and experienced receptionist team as well as a supportive admin team who takes care of financial matters including insurance. Our practice puts quality above quantity, this is to make sure our patients get excellent care and to make sure staff have a nice working environment.
Applicant Requirements This vacancy would suit a Registered Veterinary Nurse or a confident second year Student Veterinary Nurse. You must be eligible to work in the UK and have a good level of general nursing and communication skills. The most important attributes are a good work ethic and willingness to work within a team.
