Head Veterinary Nurse required at Norwood Road Veterinary Practice

We can offer a varied caseload, anything from cute puppies to specialist surgeries and scans. We’d love it if you like stitch ups or a good cat abscess, but we’re totally open if you prefer running nurse clinics. Acting as a Clinical Coach to one of our SVNs or having the willingness to train to become one is also advantageous. We are happy to help you either way with hands on learning, CPD study and lots of cake to keep you going. As a team, we like to work together and collaborate on patient care, making sure everyone’s voice is heard and respected. As head nurse, you’ll have the opportunity to help teach and shape the nursing team in areas such as anaesthesia, surgery, inpatient care, infection control and nurse consultations. Of course there are administration components too. We’re always open to hearing about new protocols and would like to know how we can help you grow in your career!
This is a full or part time role. Typically, the full-time role is 40 hours across 4 or 5 days, no weekends and no OOH. However, we are flexible and therefore happy to discuss working days / hours that would suit you.
We are a 100% small animal, single branch vet practice in the cute and hip Herne Hill area of South London, only 15 minutes by train into Central London! Originally set up 21 years ago, we have a loyal client base and are seen as part of the local community. Our team consists of 3 full time vets, one clinical director, practice manager, 2 receptionists and 3 VCAs. We are a team who aim to do all the right things for our furry friends, always keeping the patient in mind! We love our cute and inviting practice, complete with 3 consulting rooms, ultrasound, digital X-ray, dental x-ray, dental machine, multiparameter, ECG, fully equipped lab, separate dog and cat wards not to mention our outdoor garden for those summer lunch breaks.We are a Registered Training Practice and we fully support our nurses in completing certificates to further their knowledge and development which is further supported by our dedicated learning and development platforms and networking.
You might be an experienced Head Veterinary Nurse already or and RVN looking for a leadership role - no matter where you are within your career you will have access to further training and support with all the tools to enable your professional development. Within this role you will be an integral part of the management team and will assist with financial and operational performance of the practice as well as the overall team performance and engagement. You will be highly motivated and hold strong communication and people skills in order to lead in the delivery of exceptional nursing care whilst encouraging a progressive clinical culture.Clinical coaching qualification desirable.
