Supportive training with experienced award-winning team
Would you like the opportunity to train as a veterinary nurse in a multi-award-winning, single-site, independent companion animal practice? Join our 30-strong team and you’ll be part of a group of like-minded individuals passionate about driving clinical standards and supporting each other to do our best for owners and their pets. We’re RCVS-accredited, hold official cat and dog friendly clinic status and run the only cat-only vet facility within a 30-mile radius in recognition of cats’ unique wellbeing needs.
It’s our people that makes us special and we place a strong emphasis on workplace wellbeing. In 2025, the British Veterinary Association announced 387 Vets as winners of their BVA Wellbeing Awards for our cultural, communication and inclusive continuous improvement strategies to help make work work.
We are looking for the right candidate to join us as soon as possible with a view to starting RVN training in April 27. Your role will include developing your animal care and nursing competencies across a wide skills portfolio as well as reception work and building a strong bond with clients and pets. We are already supporting 3 other SVNs at different stages of their veterinary nursing diploma so, alongside our 12-strong RVN team, you’ll have access to an excellent bank of student and veterinary nursing experience.
We expect the successful candidate to be dedicated, hard-working, keen to learn, happy to work as part of a team, to be adaptable and, of course, to love animals as much as we do.
Some in-practice experience would be welcome, although this is not essential as full training will be given as you progress.
Hours
On initial commencement of role, between 34 to 40 hours per week between Monday and Saturday.
From official RVN course commencement, 3 full workings days in practice, every other Saturday from 8.30am – 2.30pm and a day release for college attendance and paid home study time.

About us:
387 Veterinary Centre is an independent, small animal, single site veterinary practice located in South Staffordshire. In May 2021, we opened The West Midlands Cat Clinic, an interconnecting cat-centric vet facility, and we’ve just completed a building project to expand our operating facilities, which now include a dedicated dental operating suite, as well as increasing space for team breaks and meetings.
Everything we do is gauged at delivering high quality professional care for companion animals coupled with a personal service for their owners. We’re delighted to have been recognised for our service standards in many different ways: by our professional governing body (we’re RCVS general practice-accredited and are classed as ‘Outstanding’ in two of their Additional Awards); through companion animal-accreditation schemes (we’re Gold Cat Friendly Clinic Status with International Cat Care and our practice has been used in ICC promotional and education content) and through client testimonial generation (e.g. finalists and winners of Petplan UK Awards on multiple occasions, including winners of Practice of the Year. 387 Vets is still the only practice to win three awards on the same night!)
387 Veterinary Centre and The West Midlands Cat Clinic are owned and run by Advanced Practitioner and Clinical Director Hamish Duncan and Non-Clinical Director Rachel Duncan. The team includes twelve qualified RVNs and seven veterinary surgeons, four with additional postgraduate qualifications. We actively support CPD and niche interests and invest in cutting-edge equipment to enable us to perform to the best of our ability and give best diagnostic and surgical service to our patients. Over 50% of our team attended professional congress last year alone.
As well as developing individual clinical skills, we are also hugely invested in team wellbeing. We were the first vet practice in the UK to hold Platinum Investors in People Accreditation, which we’ve retained for the last three 3-yearly assessments, and have twice been shortlisted finalists for Investors in People UK Employer of the Year. 2025 was a particularly noteworthy year for us, winning not one, but two prestigious national awards for the way we look after and develop our people and our practice culture.
