Part of the Goddard Veterinary Group and based at Wanstead Veterinary Hospital in East London, the College takes most of its students from vet practices in London and the home counties.
At the time of the inspection, the College had 34 students on its Registered Veterinary Nurse course and 15 students working towards their Level 2 animal care and welfare assistant qualification.
Ofsted inspectors found that the College’s apprentices learn and work in very supportive environments and value the support they get from the tutors and clinical coaches.
In their report the inspectors said: “Apprentices’ academic and welfare needs are met well.
"Apprentices enjoy their training and would recommend it to others.
"Leaders and managers have a clear rationale for delivering their training.
"They aim to train apprentices so they become skilled veterinary practitioners and develop a career in the sector.”
Group Training Manager and Head of Centre at the college, Emma Eve-Raw, said: “To receive such positive feedback from Ofsted is very rewarding.
"Our team prides itself on inspiring the next generation of veterinary nurses and veterinary nursing assistants and we have a flexible approach to give students the best chance of reaching their full potential.
“We offer hybrid learning to make it easier to balance studying alongside working in practice and every student is assessed to find out how they best learn, so their course can be tailored to suit them.
“We are also very proud of our teaching team, as we have more than 100 years of RVN experience between us and our senior teaching team spends time in practice every year to ensure their practical knowledge is kept up to date.”
Goddards, the Greater London-based 46-branch, 3 hospital veterinary group has announced the move of its HQ to a new premises in a former police station in Woodford Green, Essex.
Twenty staff from the practice, including senior managers, the accounts and IT teams and the ProActive Pets Wellness Club, are now based at the new premises.
PC Philip Goddard of Woodford Green said: "After 60 years working within our hospital in Wanstead, our support teams had outgrown the office space available. The move provides a greatly enhanced working environment for them and has also freed up space in the hospital that will be used to improve facilities for staff there, including a new lecture room for our Nursing College and Training Department."
The new address is: Claygate House, Manor Road, Woodford Green, Essex IG8 8BX. Telephone: 020 8506 0703.
The Goddard Growlers are putting the final touches to their training ahead of the Vet Charity Challenge event which takes place at Pershore College in Worcestershire on 28 September.
The team comprises Stone Lion Head Vet Roger Bralow; Practice Manager for North West London, Adrian Hayter; Philippa Davis, Regional Manager for NE London and Lisa Cooper, VN and Hospital Manager for Wanstead Hospital.
Philippa Davis said: "Our training regime is going well despite the injuries we've sustained making us consider that we might be 'too old' for this malarkey. I've certainly had to stop saying 'I don't do' running as I've found that I'm enjoying it and will continue to do it after the challenge. We make a great team and while the events will be very tough, we'll have some laughs along the way.
We certainly have a will to win and our fellow teams will find us highly competitive and growling at them at every opportunity! Seriously though, we're all really looking forward to it and watching the long range weather forecast with unusual interest! We're also delighted to be helping the fantastic causes which the Vet Charity Challenge is fundraising for this year. Our colleagues across the Goddard Group are giving us great support and we have already raised more than £600. Bring it on!"
