You may have heard the news that City & Guilds will no longer provide VN training. Please do not worry if you are a current student as they will teach out your course and uphold their commitments to you.
City & Guilds provision of VN training
City & Guilds will continue to teach current veterinary nurse students but will not take any new applicants from August 2020. They will support current students to ensure they complete their training and will advise on how they can complete their End Point Assessment for their apprenticeship. Your training practice will not be affected by this as your affiliated centre will arrange changing their Awarding Organisation and let the practice know.
RCVS is working with City & Guilds
The RCVS is liaising with City & Guilds to ensure the student needs are met and that City & Guilds uphold their commitments to them up to September 2022. The RCVS will also be working with two other awarding organisations: Central Qualifications and Vetskill and also with Higher Education establishments that offer alternative routes to VN qualifications.
The RCVS have published a list of frequently asked questions on their website to help address any concerns you may have (rcvs.org.uk/cityandguilds) and you can also contact the RCVS VN Team on 020 7202 0788.
