The BVNA is overjoyed with the response to this years Veterinary Nursing Awareness Month campaign and believes it is the biggest yet! The campaigns official Facebook page received over 2,200 new likes and posts were shared in over 47 different countries.
Jo Hinde, VNAM Committee Chair, has led this year’s campaign:
“This year I was keen to try to broaden the reach of the campaign to all sectors of the veterinary profession as well as the general public. I am thrilled to see that we had engagement from colleges, corporate groups and suppliers as well as from a wide range of staff roles.”
The campaign ran for the month of May and was supported with daily posts and shares on Facebook and Twitter. These called for veterinary professionals to submit videos that explained why they could not live without their RVN’s and responses flooded in from a range of people including John Chitty BSAVA Senior Vice President and John Fishwick BVA President.
Nurses were also challenged to get involved in 3 main ways:
These 3 challenges were taken on with gusto and we have enjoyed seeing everyone’s efforts, however this did mean we had a very large number of entries to judge for our competitions!
Jo Hinde said:
“The amount of competition entries this year was astounding, but I was even more impressed with the content. It was clear that the nurses creating displays and planning events were very passionate about their role and keen to highlight what they do in great detail. It was lovely to see so many events being run outside of the veterinary clinic, including practice staff attending local fetes and nurses giving talks within schools. This kind of outreach is so important within the local communities.”
