We are an independent Veterinary Practice with two clinics. We have been established for over 40 years and run a busy first opinion caseload for small animals. At our clinics, it’s not just about the animals, although we do love them. We build up long-term relationships with our clients, most of whom have been with us for many years. WHAT THE JOB INVOLVES
You will be responsible for supporting the team and taking care of the well being of pets by maintaining a clean and hygienic environment at all times, You will also be assisting with animal handling, covering reception and providing support to the Veterinary Nurses, Veterinary Surgeons and Practice Manager.
A brief summary of duties is: · Restocking consulting rooms· Animal Handling · Preparing theatre for surgery · Preparing dental area for procedures · Processing blood and urine samples in our in house laboratory · Sterilising of Equipment · Reception work · Wholesaler ordering · Computer Work including Excel and Word. · Cleaning · Laundry
ABOUT YOUDo you have animals yourself, or experience with them such as working at another vets, cattery or farm? Do you have any animal related qualifications?
Do you have experience in Word or Excel?
You must be well presented and also have a good telephone manner, as you will have a lot of contact with our clients.
We are looking for someone with initiative who can see which jobs need to be done around the clinic and how they can be of help to the rest of the team.
WORKING WITH US You’ll be working day shifts from Monday to Friday, and on alternate Saturday’s. Your average week will be 37.5 hours split across both sites.
Your holiday entitlement per year is 28 days. This includes the 8 Bank Holidays, on which we are closed.
We all love learning new things, and often have companies visit us for “lunch and learn” meetings which all the staff benefit from. We always welcome new ideas that allow us to offer something “new” to our clients.
We have practice meetings every two weeks where we discuss our plans for the coming weeks, along with any issues that have arisen, and how we can improve things. All members of staff are involved and give input.
It will be a steep learning curve if you have not worked in a Vet clinic before. It can be extremely busy and also sad at times, but each day is different which keeps us all on our toes.
