Pride Veterinary Centre is the central hospital for Scarsdale Vets, with satellite branches in the surrounding area including Farm/Equine. We are a large first opinion and referral hospital with plenty of facilities including 5 Theatres, MRI, CT, Ultrasound Rooms, Digital X-Ray, Endoscopy Suite, Chemotherapy & Radiotherapy, separate Cat/Dog/Exotic Wards.
Supporting the theatre team by delivering and monitoring prescribed anaesthesia/sedation for referral patients from the surgical, neurology, ophthalmology and medicine disciplines, you will be an integral team member. We use multi-parameter monitors to monitor our patients under anaesthesia, reporting any problems to the specialist anaesthetists. Other than anaesthesia you will also take on a circulating theatre nurse role. This involves preparing each theatre for surgery with the correct equipment, preparing the patient and personnel for theatre, maintaining sterility during surgery and assisting with theatre equipment.
The role is 43 hours per week (usually worked over 5 days). Combination of shifts ranging from 7:30-4:30, 8-5, 8:30-5:30, 9:30-6:30 or 9:30-7. OOH on call for surgical emergencies as part of rota. 1 weekend in 6, with time off in lieu the following week.
