&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Introduction&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Student veterinary nurses have traditionally greeted genetics with unanimous disapproval! It is the aim of this chapter to enable you to approach the subject with confidence.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Genetics is the science of animal heredity and natural development. It is the study of how characteristics and traits are transmitted from generation to generation.&lt;/p&gt;
