When did you go on maternity leave?

Hi ladies,

How far along were you before you went on mat leave, and what factors helped you to decide? I need to make my mind up on dates but I'm not sure what's best. It's a very small practice with very limited staffing so when it comes to delegating/lifting patients etc. I'm a bit stuck. And it can be difficult to get sufficient breaks/leave on time etc. I'm the only nurse here.

Enzymatic toothpaste availability?

I haven't been able to source Virbac's poultry-flavoured enzymatic toothpaste for months now - can anyone suggest any chicken-y alternatives (with some kind of antimicrobial activity)?

I've got a couple of tubes of dentisept but it's not everyone'e cup of tea, and lots of Logic, but clients are wanting something that is more of a paste and not beef-flavoured.

IVFT - Giving Set advice for Niki 4? Calibration?

Hi guys,

I've got a refurbed Niki pump, which I am delighted with! Only prob is with the giving set it was calibrated with (Braun Intrafix) - it's nice and cheap (boss is happy), but far too short (nurses not happy).

1. Which coiled giving sets can you recommend (with at least one port that's not halfway up the line! i.e. suitable for propofol induction)? Looking to spend around £1 ea.

2. What happened to the Animal Care brand ones...? I can't seem to source them anywhere.

3. Who should I talk to about getting my infusion pump re-calibrated to a different giving set?

I tried a random coiled giving set to see what happened, and the programmed drip rate was not anywhere near the actual drip rate

Is anyone willing to share their practice's SOP for when a client requests a written prescription?

i.e. do you charge per bottle/tub, or once and the client may reuse it however many times? What wording do you use, etc.
