We have a newly qualified RVN who seems to be going backwards with what she is able to do, most of the team dont feel confident leaving her in areas on her own as things dont get done, for example today we had many inpatients and she was on inpatients, none of them got checked from 9.30am until she was asked at 3pm to check them, Im on nights this wk so unable to pick up on these things as they happen although when told this had happened did question why it wasnt brought up with her there and then.

Going to have a quiet word tomorrow to see if there is anything going on that i need to know about and remind her that inpatients are checked at least every two hours unless requested otherwise but dont want to dishearten her.

Our directors dont see the problem as she is very good at looking busy when she isnt and this is causing friction that i dont want in my team, with her being so new i want to encourage her and remind her she is still learning, does anyone know of any CPD that is aimed at newly qualified that helps aid confidence and promote continued learning?
