This has likely been asked before but my search proved fruitless

I am likely going to do some extra shift for Vets Now over the next few months & before I decide what shifts I wanted to know what the difference is between a "Back Shift" and a "Night Shift"? The hours look to be the same and it's all in the same hospital I'm just curious to know the difference.

Thanks in Advance

I'm sure this has been discussed on many an occasion so apologies if I have missed other threads. I am a head nurse in Bristol working for a charity practice and surprise surprise as I am sure most people are, we are struggling to recruit.

We offer a 35 hour week 8am-4pm with NO OOH at all, yep no weekends, no nights no bank holidays. Almost unheard of. We are a small really friendly team and animal welfare is the priority. There is no pressure to sell diets, book dentals etc etc. Salary we seem to be fairly middle of the road £20-24k but that is of course for a 35 hour week. I have seen plenty of practices offering similar for a 40 hour week with OOH.

How are the rest of you getting on with recruitment and can any of you suggest what has worked for you if you have been successful in your quest to recruit?

Many thanks :)

Vet Nurse
