Can you recommend good CPD for updating my nursing skills?

I have worked ad hoc as an RVN for the last few years and sometimes only have 1 nursing day in a month, but struggling with my confidence some days and comparing myself to the other, very competent nurses we have. Any advice on good CPD options for a good refresher and update on anaesthesia?

Hey,

So I am looking at the potential of starting my own business after leaving vet nursing 1 year ago. I'm thinking along the side of doggy day care/shop/nurse clinics type business.

What I would like to know is;

What can we offer as Vet nurses off site with no vets?

Has anyone else set up their own business and how have you gone about it?

Is there any funding available for this type of start up business?

Any other opinions or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Left vet nursing - what's next!?

So last year I made the huge decision to leave Vet Nursing after being in the business for the best part of 10 years and being qualified for the last 4 years.

This was for the usual reasons: pay, travel, hours, etc, etc. Also living in a very small community there is only 1 practice and I couldn't go to another without completely uprooting and moving which unfortunately was not and is not an option. (Troubles of living on an island!)

I've been working in a local airport which pays more, better hours and only 5 minutes from my house but I want to be doing more. I've been starting to think of Dog training and behaviour.
Has anyone made the jump to dog trainer/behaviourist that could point me in the direction of some good (and most importantly) accredited courses that can get me started.

Exotics pre-consulation forms

2nd question of the day.

One of the vets has tasked me with coming up with a form for clients of exotic pets (Specifically your reptiles and amphibians or less frequently seen creatures) who are coming in for a consultation that they can fill out with all their pets details and habits. Kind of like a care plan with what normal and what is abnormal. This then gives the vet a chance to look over it without spending 10 minutes discussing what is normal before they get on to the problem.

If any of you have something similar to this already and could give me some pointers on how to draw one up, I would greatly appreciate it

Controlled drugs registrer help!

Hey I was wondering if anyone could help me.

I've taken on the Controlled drugs from a Veterinary Nurse who has left and I am currently trying to do an overhaull on the whole procedure of stock checks.

So I have my hardback book with 2 pages allocated to each drug and all the relevant information needed at the top and my list of who's getting what when underneath.

But I was wondering what all your protocols are and how you do you you stock checks and how frequently? I'm currently doing a stock check weekly but I find that it is filling up my pages quickly, especially with extra bottles of stuff that are waiting to be used.

Basically I need a quick start guide and any tips you can through at me. Sorry if this sounds like a ramble
