We had a rat in for a very large lump removal from its right groin/lower abdomen. This has left a large wound to heal. We have placed intradermal sutures and glue as the rat is a known chewer. Any ideas for preventing wound trauma?

With a collar he pushed it off, we tried a sock too small, next sock too big, now trying a sock in-between. Tried dressing but chewed that off. Given their nature what have you tried that might work this time?

All advise gratefully received

What do you use as a tie for a rabbit endotracheal tube?

Hi all

What do you use as a tie for a rabbit endotracheal tube? We use k band cut into strips usually but we’ve found that they tend to slip from the rabbit tubes. Anyone have any other good alternatives? Thank you in advance x

Do you know of any resources for neurodivergent nurses?

Hi everyone,

I have been qualified as a RVN for about a year, but recently I had to urgently leave practice for a non clinical role. This was due to the fact I am autistic and have ADHD and was constantly overstimulated and burnt out. I am happy with my slower paced role, but I miss nursing a lot. I know that if I do go back to nursing I will need to be very careful about the practice and about asking for accommodations. Practice is obviously a very chaotic place sometimes and I am worried that my disability will restrict me from being able to nurse. I excelled in my college course, I found the course easy and was the first to finish my NPL etc, but now the reality of day to day nursing isn't accommodating to my neurotype. I did discuss accommodations with my last practice but with management lacking action nothing came of it so I had to leave. So my question is, does anyone know of any good veterinary (nurse) specific resources and neurodivergent friendly practices/organisations, or alternatively any ideas of where I can take my skills and qualification?

Is it still a struggle in practice?

I've been out of vet practice work and working from home for a while.
