Qualified Small Animal Veterinary Nurse

We are a 4 branch, RCVS accredited, mixed practice covering a large proportion of mid Wales. We have a team of 19 vets together with 6 small animal nursing staff supported by a dedicated reception team.

Due to one of our nurses emigrating across the border we have an opportunity for a full time member of staff to join our fantastic team. The role would be mainly based in our Newtown branch but may require occasional cover in our other branches as required. Our Newtown branch boasts 2 vet consults room and a recently added nurses consult room. We have the usual equipment including digital x ray, endoscopy and ultrasonography plus an in house lab facility. The job features:

No OOH (the OOH is covered by a team of 3 vets every night)
8:30 - 5:00 or 9:00 - 5:30 working day
1 in 3 Saturday morning (8:30 - 1:00)
CPD supported and funded
21 day holiday

There is a fantastic array of glorious Welsh countryside to explore on the doorstep but being in a central location near the border means that larger towns and cities are also relatively accessible.

Exceptional receptionist required for 8 vet mixed practice on Shropshire/Powys border. RCVS accredited, independently owed practice which is a member of XLVets. Purpose built premises operating at a very high standard. Must have experience of mixed practice and a good working knowledge of word, excel and Robovet.

26 hours per week with the possibility of extra hours.

Surgical Kits

Dear all,

I am looking to update the way we pack our small animal surgical kits in practice. We currently wrap our kits in drapes and pack them in an autoclave bag. Even with a regular change of drapes when they become stained and holey I don't think they are really up to the job. I was hoping to have a more disposable way of packaging the kits to save on the cost of buying more drapes and time on washing and de-hairing them ect.

I would be interested to hearing how other practices package their kits.
