*Are you a Registered Veterinary Nurse?*

My name is Florrie Sage, and I am a 4th year Veterinary Nursing and Companion Animal Behaviour student at the University of Bristol, undertaking my final year research project.

The aim of the project is to collect data on the current behaviours and attitudes of RVNs towards acute pain management in cats undergoing routine ovariohysterectomy (spay).

If you are an RVN, working in the UK, please could you complete the short questionnaire on your practices current pain protocols for cats. It will take 5-10 mins for you to complete. The questionnaire will collect data on your role in practice, and how long you have been qualified for. No personal information, such as names or addresses, will be collected and all information will be stored on a private, password protected computer. Practice names will not be collected, and no practice or individual will be identifiable from the survey.
Survey link: https://forms.office.com/e/8zpATaETZN

I would be very grateful for your time in participation of my study. If you have any questions, please contact me on oy19074@bristol.ac.uk

Thank you in advance!

Regurgitation in dogs under anaesthesia

Hi guys,

Is this ok to do with a circle? A few other nurses have said not to do this due to the flow factors in a circle

Hair drying hypothermic patients post anaesthesia

Hi folks, just curious what people's opinions are on hair drying patients post anaesthesia to bring up their temperature? My thoughts were that it is counterproductive as the skin nerves will send signals to say that it's too hot so that the body needs to cool down internally? Can someone let me know what's right please?
When using Sterilium as a surgical scrub and then doing the WHO method after, is it 1m30s in total to do BOTH washed, or 1m30s for the surgical scrub and then the 30-40s extra for the WHO.

I am an overseas nurse sitting my OSCEs next week for the first time and I am having a hard time getting my head around disposal options.

The words hazardous and non hazardous have been read a million times and I don't get it! I think I am getting confused by the blue bins. I understand purple cytotoxic waste fine.

I understand a needle goes in the yellow sharps, but where does my blood sampling syringe go? Into a bin or a bag, what colour? Where does my medication giving syringe go - the blue bin?

If cleaning out patient accommodation, does the newspaper/absorbent lining go into offensive? Orange bags, yellow bags? ARGH! Faeces, urine...? What is the difference between a yellow bag and orange bag which has infectious waste that is incinerated or treated. What is an example of what goes in each please.

Thanks

Courtney

When disposing of a used dipstick for urine testing, where would this go?

Vet Nurse
