Up until now we have been using Vetasept Chlorhex Spray as final application skin prep for sampling, iv's and surgical procedures but now it is no longer available. Searches for an alternative are proving fruitless and NVS say there is nothing and won't be.

What are people using?

Thank you

What theatre shoes?

I know the question of footwear has been asked many times but the most recent post I can see is about 10yrs ago and times/footwear options have changed a bit. I used to have a pair of tofflen clogs but the soles fell off after too much washing during lockdown and keep falling off despite using footwear glue so its time to chuck them out and get a new pair.

I can't really afford to replace like for like so wondering what people find comfortable. My feet get hot in the rubber clog shoes so I end up kicking them off after a short while (definitely put back on when walking about prep and theatre but whilst I can stand or sit still for a bit then they are off). I still need shoes that are washable so it may be unavoidable but what are people wearing? Anything with arch support out there?

Is anyone struggling to administer Specific Intensive Support via tube?

We have a jaw # cat who has an O tube, we used to use the Royal Canin liquid in a bottle for our tube feeds however we're unable to get it anymore.

We are trying Specific Intensive Support however it seems to clog the O tube fairly regularly... It is being shaken before use and warmed before administering. It even clogs with extra water added.

Patient has a 10f O tube which had to be replaced yesterday for blockage.

RCVS increases RVN renewal fees by 4%

The RCVS has announced that RVN renewal fees will increase by 4%.

The 4% increase was approved by the Privy Council and the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs.

Dr Tshidi Gardiner, RCVS Treasurer, said: “As with last year, RCVS Council recognises that we are living in difficult economic times, and have tried to keep the fee increase to a minimum.

"However, it is important that we increase fees in line with inflation, as well as take into account additional related costs, to ensure we are fulfilling our regulatory remit to the best of our abilities and meet our strategic priorities.”

The veterinary nurse annual renewal period will begin in the autumn, from when the new fees will apply.

What does everyone use for covering foam x-ray wedges ? I’ve been just washing them after use but hate them being covered in hair. I’ve tried sticky back plastic but it makes lines on the radiographs .
