&lt;p&gt;May be being cynical here, but I suspect that as humans we are putting a &amp;#39;human&amp;#39; spin / perspective on this ...... it may be possible of course that the dog was &amp;#39;rescuing&amp;#39; the dead animal but isn&amp;#39;t it also likely that (as a homeless/stray/feral dog) it was dragging the carcass off for another reason (food?).
