before i started my treatment i used to take a couple ibuprofen and put my splint on and wear it over night otherwise i couldn't use it the next morning. you need to be sure you're not doing anything to aggravate it. I find things like, vacuuming, computer with mouse using, washing down things, scrubbing, driving and extensive writing all irritate it. I made the mistake of vacuuming my car a while back and i could barely use my hand the next day. Every time i picked something up i dropped it cause i had no grip. it was very odd. Honestly if you're not into the needle thing I still would highly recommend some deep tissue(sports) massage. It's not for the faint hearted though. it's painful when being done but it really makes it feel so much better. Hope you get it sorted.

me too.... it hurts right now actually and im not even typing with it. Got weekend off work though to TRY and rest, lol.

Um, she did say it could potentially still be CTS, but id have to wear splints if it is...

went to docs this morning... she tapped my wrist and moved it around... it caused an odd sensation down my forearm. She thinks it could be nerve related, but not completely sure, as ive only had the pain for 3 days. She asked what job i do and if i could have strained it at work... it could have been a possibility i strained it without knowing, or that it is an accumulative thing with lifting and stuff.

Ive been advised to keep on the anti-inflams and rest... yest and today ive had it wrapped up with tubi-grip, made it abit more comfortable and bearable with the dull aches. Have been told to see how it goes over the next week or so.

I had my nerve function test on friday to see if i have carpal tunnel (i dont but now i need more tests ) i get shooting pains up and down my arm pins and needles at night, the orthopedic surgeon suggested wearing a splint at night to see if this relieved it so might be worth trying esp as if the doc refers you there'l be a long wait i had a four month wait, they advise not to wear the splint during the day only at night

I have had problems with nerves on a couple of occaisions and the feelings you are describing definitely sound like nerve pain/irritation. The first time I had problems was when I was on crutches for a broken leg and holding my weight on my hands for so long was literally crushing the nerve as it went across the bone of my hand - as you describe on the fleshy part below my thumb.

I also am currently having problems with nerves down my right arm, steming from whiplash I got in a car accident a few weeks ago - I thought the slight achiness in my arm was all a result of muscle strain from the accident, but it turns out it is the tightness of the muscles in my neck pinching and irritating the nerves creating pain all down my arm.

I kow its a different situation, but just wanted to let you know that it is worth getting checked out because it could be something completely unrelated that is irritating the nerves. (Just to add that until I went to the physio as part of the insurance claim I thought my neck was almost better, so there might be another problem you are not aware of).

That's a serious shame because they work better than anything i've ever had. They aren't as bad as you would think. You don't really feel much.

Hmm maybe, but i still not keen on needles/pins being put in and around my wrist, no matter what size they are.
Thanks for the tip though, maybe someone else could benefit from this advice if they suffer similar thing.

That's a serious shame because they work better than anything i've ever had. They aren't as bad as you would think. You don't really feel much.

I have RSI in my right wrist and I see a McTimmony Chiropractor once a month. She also is a qualified acupuncturist and does a session on my wrist monthly with a combination of needles and deep tissue massage. sorts me right out! Hurts like hell for the first day but then is right as rain for the rest of the month until my next session.

I think I have it, but still to be confirmed. My pain an dit is pain comes when I reach out for something, and also when rotating my wrist.... the pain however is not in the wrist but a shooting pain right down my finger D4 to be precise. I recoil it is so sore. I also have numbness in the same finger right on the very tip and have had for months. Still waiting on my appt with the hand specialist....I will be drawing my pension at this rate!

No, not been to docs yet, thought it would pass, am gonna try get appt at docs 2moro or friday anyways, as i need to get blood pressure checked for my contraceptive pill (not that u'd wana know that, haha)

Have tried painkillers, sometimes helped to dull the aches but not always

And no cant think of anything traumatic, lifted large heavy dog the other day on stretcher after a pts and carried with another person to a different room, but not moved the dog in any way that would cause injury to my wrist and certainly didnt feel any pain when moving it across to the stretcher or while carrying.
