If you board in your own home you have to be licensed by your local authority.

If you don't apply for a license and had a problem it could affect your insurance.

I have a web site for my cat sitting, it's places to list it really that I need to fine more of. A lot of directories offer paid ads at £25 a year but they don't seem very well ranked to bother with.

Cliverton insurance is the one I would reccomend- They are specialists for animal businesses and provide specialist cover for things like groomers, dog walkers, pet sitters etc.

£120 a year was my quote.

Do check up with your local authority about boarding licence as my authority has licences for boarding and home boarding establishments both cost the same amout and you have to be inspected.

Oh, also, for those of you who do cat sit, where do you advertise? I use the practice and Gumtree (though I have yet to get a job from Gumtree) is there anywhere else effective?

**Edit, sorry, I totaslly missed the 'in your own home' part of the first post! No I have not. I would think you would charge a normal cattery price plus a premium for the one to one care in a home environment? Catteries by me are about £8 a day and the posh places where they have massive homely enclosures with only about five boarding at any one time go about £15- £20 a day, so I'd be looking at the upper end of that price range personally?

I would also get business insurance for it, as I imagine the liability would be quite high- and also if you are a tenant rather than a homeowner, could get rather complicated with both having animals and the running a business from home legalities side?

£12 for one visit per day, £20 for two visits per day.

Also in London, and also pretty much the going rate for the area.

Hi,

I look after cats in their own homes I charge £10 once day (some have neighbours that feed aswell) or £15 for twice, I have had a few people ask me to stay as a burglar deterrent I live in North London and have never been told my fees are extortionate. Unfortunately I can't have cats at home as my own putty tats wouldn't tolerate them.
