why when you phone clients to tell them the 30kg 7mth old lab is overweight, already had rads due to lameness etc etc do the owners tell u she isnt overweight and she is fine, despite me offering my time

Re: rant needed!

I went to a CPD night not too long ago, and we were told that when a dog runs, 5-8x it's weight is transmitted through it's joints. Therefore if a labrador is say 5 kilograms over what it should be, that is between 25 and 40kg of extra 'weight' on it's joints every time it runs. Seems that so far when we have told owners this the shock tactics are working!

Sortof when they require your pets to be vaccinated, dental checks, health checks, etc.

only fair I suppose. Fat pet could equal potential lifetime medication for heart/diabetes/etc. So why should insurance pay out because you contribute towards your own pet's illness?

Re: rant needed!

no doubt lab is 'big boned' and 'only gets fed once a day'.
