On the way to do my 2nd year prac exams my mum who was driving me hit a squirrel, it was on a busy dual carriageway so no chance of stopping, it was all I could think about for the whole exam, luckily I still passed but have never forgotten it.

Big , I was gutted when I ran over a cat. Luckily I found the owner but I was such a state when I got to work.

My boss at the time wasn't plesant... your 10 mins late and look at the state of you, pull yourself together, get to work else I will take it off your wages..... I left shortly after

aw Caro, I am so sorry to hear that, I hope you are ok, as the others have said, there wasnt anything you could have done so try not to beat yourself up over it.

Quite a few years ago, on a cold and icy february morning, 2 badgers appeared right in front of my car, out of nowhere, I couldnt even get stopped in time as the road was so slippy, so bang, hit the both of them. By the time I got stopped, they were nowhere to be seen, they were certainly hurt as the front of my car was damaged.

I cant imagine what it feels like to hit an animal. I was a wreck once cos I thought I had hit a wild rat.

That's awful, I'm sorry that happened to you Caro. I was in tears a week or two ago doing something similar to a swallow that flew into my car. I know I hurt it and i was going through a high traffic area where i couldn't turn round. It broke my heart and i was feeling really tearful and stressed about other things at the time too. I got to my destination and just balled my eyes out for a good 5 mins. I felt so helpless and useless there was nothing i could do. hope you're alright.

Oh Caro, poor you, I would be exactly the same as you, I would think that on such a fast road with the volume of traffic that it would be a quick end for the little creature!!

Dont beat yourself up over it, it was not your fault, nothing you could have done in any case, unfortunately its just nature with the roads vs animals, it would have been a rabbit in all probability, but I know its easy for me to say dont blame yourself but i am not in your position!!
