Yeah I will do. I didn't get the rota until Friday afternoon so didn't have a chance to call them then so sent them an e-mail. Don't start until 12 tomorrow and so will call them in the morning. It's quite nice having the power to decided when and what I work!

Reminds me of when my ex (then boyfriend) and I were looking to rent via the local estate agents. Viewed so many flats, having said at the beggining I have 2 cats....everytime, "so we can have cats, right?" "Oh, I'll check...." Nope, landperson wasn't happy.
Found one, brand new laminate flooring, was told no probs for cats, landlord would even put in a cat flap! Said no as they were indoor kitties. About 2.5months later I had an ant issue (on the third floor!?) so called the landlord to let him know. He called me and said he'd get some ant killer for me, told him to remember it had to be cat friendly....."errr, why?" "I have 2 cats of course" Apparently I wasn't meant to (it wasn't in the contract we signed) and I said I'd told the estate agents....they never told him, was soooo freaked out we'd be kicked out. I think he came to see them (I was working) and him and my boyfriend had a chat and we were allowed to stay! Was only there 6 months tho. Then we moved to a place with a garden.

Lack of communication. Awesome. Think the estate agents were desp for the commission. Or maybe they forgot. IDK. Was a lot of stress for ex and I at the time

I'm charging an hourly rate but haven't spoken about night work yet.

To be honest I've not actually spoken to the agency regarding weekends and nights and so I don't know if they just presumed I would do them. You would think the practice would be in touch with me though to check but there we go.

i set my own prices even through an agency, depending on if i was expected to go in for checks or not would make the decision as to if i charged a flat rate per night plus time or just time spent travelling to and from and in surgery.

I hope this gets sorted out for you. I have done locums where I have stated to the agency no nights no weekends and then find when I get there I will be doing both, and I know this has happened to some vet locums as well who now refuse to use certain agencies Are you charging an hourly rate or a daily rate?

I've e-mailed my locum agency to ask how much I'm being paid for being on call. I've e-mailed the practice and said I'm not doing weekends. I don't mind being on call in the week but I am having to travel an hour to get to this job and want my weekends free. I'm away for the bank holiday anyway. Will see what they say tomorrow.

yes I found when i was locumming that if I didnt charge enough for the job I would end up working all the on calls and bank holidays. When I started to charge extra for these surprisingly they didnt give me as many

To me, that just seems a bit rude! Hope your getting paid for being on-call. I know I don't, but I'm in full time practice (tho I get paid if I go in) Hope you agreed payment terms and they don't take the micky out of you!
