I am training to be a Dog Groomer, and have been scouting around to see if any practices in my area have a Grooming service also. I am in Essex, sort of Colchester/Ipswich way. So if anyone knows of

Re: Grooming in Vet Surgeries

Hi guys,

Thanks for all your replies. Interesting to get the VN's point of view. Gosh I would never leave a mess and expect anyone else to clean up after me. :(

Anyway I am now a qualified Assistant Dog Groomer, and I am doing my Level 3 in September, to become a fully fledged Dog Groomer. ;)

Re: Grooming in Vet Surgeries

We have the best of both worlds too :) very small practice with independent groomers attached. Fantastic at what they do (booked up until Nov!!) and excellent for working together with cats that may need sedated for grooming etc.

Although it is attached it is technically run as a separate business - I am currently trying to get our boss to consider us having a 'bathing service', not for grooming purposes but for medicinal shampoos etc - I think many owners would by happy to pay for this with the hassle of having to bath dogs with skin problems weekly for example - with specific grooming equipment on site this would be much easier to put into place!

Re: Grooming in Vet Surgeries

Grr, thats not good! Also we often have to sedate cats for thorough grooming- we never have the correct gradient blades so the poor cats look a bit of a mess. With someone like you in a practice would be a bonus.

Perhaps offer it to several practices you could do a morning a week in different practices- but perhaps give the practices a incentive like some of the profits or free/discounted grooming for staff members. if i open a practice one day I will defo keep you in mind!
