The manuka honey dressings are a great idea!

However using intrasite and allevyn together is kind of pointless as intrasite tries to keep wound moist whilst allevyn are designed to absorb mositure from wound!!

[/quote]

You can use intrasite with alyvin it will not dry your wound but will absorb any exudate that is produced. Melolin is not great to use with intrasite as it is not permeable so you just create an environment that doesn't allow the intrasite to do its job.

Perhaps try registering to the www.vetwoundlibrary.co.uk - is an annual membership but you send in details of your case and type of injury and they will provide you with free appropriate dressings and advice on dressing and treatments.

Anyway we saved the leg but it got to a point where it was trying to heal, but even the dressings that are supposedly best for wound healing would peel a fine layer of cells off each time we changed it and we had a period where the healing just became static for about 2 weeks.

I'm not sure if its appropriate to your wound-site (maybe not) but the only way we got this one to heal was to create a massive "doughnut" dressing, which was placed around the area in such a way that no part of the bandage covering it was in contact with the wound - it was essentially in an air pocket but kept protected by the over-bandage. We saw results by the next bandage change and absolutely enabled the healing to resume. Not particularly sophisticated (James Herriot stuff probably) but I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
