I am applying to the RVC for an emergancy and critical care nurse, so i am worried it will be all very fast paced, and thats when i will get thrown in the deep end. I work for Vets now, so its not like i dont know what to do..... Just still very scary. Application almost completed tho!!

Also to Alana - I just started working at a referral centre and its been amazing. Everyone is helping me and showing me how things work and explaining things to me. The hardest part is feeling like a first day at work nurse - I'm still so in awe of what they do and feel like a trainee compared to the knowledgeable people I work with!

We all have to start somewhere!! I've previously worked in 100% referral places as well as ones that do GP stuff too.

Am sure they wouldn't drop in at the deep end. We used to allow our new nurses shadow another until confident in tasks.

I spent a total of 12 weeks at the QMH at the RVC when at uni and loved it! Feel very frustrated seeing things being done half heartedly in general practice when I know it can be done soooo much better!

I'm quite happy at the practice I am at at the moment, but at some point in the future I'd like to make the move back to referral.
