To be honest, I done the first unit and it was really good, then I kind of got side tracked with work stuff... so I haven't really looked at it for a while.

I'm stuck on trying to write an essay about 1200 words on a tortoise behaviour! It's harder than it sounds!

Hi people if you are interested in exotics in general as well as tortoises and other reptiles then I would recommend contacting Edinburgh's Telford College they do a course which is City + Guilds Certificate Nursing of Exotic Species its a distant learning course that is put together by Simon Girling you just need to go up to Edinburgh to take the exam which is a day in September. The course is suppose to be 2yrs and cost £600 in total for the big books and the exam fee and you do have questions at the end of each section which you need to answer and send to the college who then sends it to Simon to mark and then he send it back to you with a grade and feedback. The course is split into: avian, reptiles + amphibians, small furry's and then british wildlife. In each of the listed species it is divided into anatomy + physiology, nutrition, anaesthesia, fluid therapy and common diseases. I completed this course in 10months and I highly recommend it!

oooh exciting stuff, shame I've just enrolled in the Cert ECC so I'm going to be a bit busy with that but I will keep this in mind for the future

just finished lesson 1... was more reading than I thought it was gonna be... but I've already learnt loads - and that was just the basic A&P!

Thanks for bringing this course to my attention. I have also enrolled now and have received my first lesson. My boss was happy to fund the course as such good value. Hope the content is useful!

The course is fab, I did it last year! Really good value CPD, I think its £35!

Sounds like something good to do when i've time after qualifying! Would RCVS count it as CPD or not do you think?

I started it a year ago and got to the second lesson then started my VN training so pushed it to one side.

I loved the course materials though did have some problems with recieving the course by email as they use an AOL account which would not always send stuff through to me.

I'm doing this at the moment, well...started a while back but am getting back into it now! So far it looks good, the notes are well laid out with pictures etc. Thought it would be useful for practice as so little is taught about tortoises during the VN training scheme so any further information is going to benefit.
