these are still a bit 'tent-like' at the front (it's the growing room I suppose) but it is a bit more modern than the old alexandra ones and it had tie backs so I can pull the xtra bit of 'tent' out of the way until I need it later personally I can't believe I will get that big but I've been assured I will!!

We say this except it is called "budgied" as in "haha ur trousers are budgied" or we also say "iz yer budgie deed" LOL I know people who say cat too, i just prefer budgie! LOL!!

We get our uniforms form Veterinary apparel company. They will take a while to arrive because they're an american company, but have some really nice stuff which can all be embroidered. We have the paw print uniforms, and they come in a multitude of colours and styles, are really good quality and wash well. They also do bootleg, combat and wide leg pants, all with drawstrings I believe.

That's useful to know, I've just been looking for some comfy maternity uniform, we have an old top at work and it's hideous! Like a massive green tent!!

I know it's probably not going to help long-term, but Alexandra are currently still trading. Ordered and received two tunics from them at the end of last week.

Well dont use Graham Gardner, we have had no end of problems at our practice. The orders never arrive at the same time, slow delivery and within a few weeks nearly all of us have had to have zips replaced. I loved Alexander for uniforms and they were good quality too.

don't know how they are for 'normal' uniforms but I'm wearing some very comfy cherokee maternity scrubs from a company called work in style. I believe my manager ordered them online?... the leaflets they put in the package for their range included shoes and all the usual 'extras'

I would go with Graham gardener. Never had a problem. Yes they are a bit expensive but my 2 pairs of green combat trousers with elasticated waistbands are now 3 years old and still going- only slight fading on the knees, plus i love having the leg pockets

Uniforms.... ah well I am the new owner of a pair of bottle green scrubs.... so much cooler than the usual uniform our building is swealtering every day... and we dare not enter the lab with the heat from all the blood machines, and thats even with the window open.

When I was growing up, if your trousers were a bit short (Happened often with hand me downs etc)

They were only socially unacceptable if someone asked : Oh - has the cat died?'

Meaning were you were showing an unnacceptable level of ankle .......... someone dies you do the half mast - animal dies your trousers are halfway up your legs!

Does anyone else 'get it'?

Also an excellent point about the cloister ones is that for an extra charge of a couple of pounds they will make them any leg length you want - so us tall VNs no longer ahve to take hems down to stop us looking like we are wearing ankle swingers!

Thanks for that! We were looking at the ones on Graham Gardner but they were pricey compared to others... That may be the way to go though as a couple of the nurses have ordered and tried on other makers and they were just not comfortable with how they looked and felt.

Those ones on Cloister are cheaper so may be a goer!

Graham Gardener do the bootleg green trousers, they are so lovely! not high waisted.

They do the colours in bottle green, navy and maroon red. You can order any colour other than these but there is an extra charge.

Ah interesting to see this thread! The practice I just started at previously didn't have a set uniform but liked what I wear so much they are kitting out the staff to match (lol! I'm serious!) but the problem is the green trousers... Nightmare. The girls who are trying to get them can't find any that aren't so high waisted you could tuck them into your bra, and it seems to be all we talk about in work now...

Can anyone reccomend green trousers in hipsters or a not so high waist?

Ps, NVS does still have some limited stock of the Alexander stuff if you order quick before it all goes!

I meant say, don't want GG cos they're expensive and service is awful! Liked the trousers i got from them but faded quickly and had to wait weeks for them. Have brought shoes and scrubs from them and waited weeks too. And ordered some Crocs that i waited weeks for, phoned them and they said they don't make the ones i'd ordered anymore!!! But they hadn't informed me. Really put me off using them again!

I remember people saying about Cloister before, how do people rate them?
