&lt;p&gt;They were only socially unacceptable if someone&amp;nbsp; asked : Oh - has the cat died?&amp;#39;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Meaning were you were showing an unnacceptable level of ankle .......... someone dies you do the half mast - animal dies your trousers are halfway up your legs!&lt;/p&gt;

The practice I just started at previously didn&amp;#39;t have a set uniform but liked what I wear so much they are kitting out the staff to match (lol!
