I'm currently using Sky 8mbps broadband at home, but am moving to a village that they dont have coverage, so my internet will go up from £5/month to £17. I have thought of moving

Re: Internet Service providers

yeah, checked exchande distance from my new place and it says 365 yards.... close enough ? lol. yeah, have heard virgin means unlimited when they say it.

Re: Internet Service providers

I am with BT and I have never had probs re unlimited, and I am on all the time.

The broadband is fast, but then I am close to an exchange.... and that definitely makes a difference.

Re: Internet Service providers

You need to be careful with BT and a lot of others is they say unlimited is never that they have limits. Telewest/Blueyonder/Virgin (have had 3 owners) has always said unlimited and meant it.

Re: Internet Service providers

Sky actually have an offer on at the mo for new clients, check out moneysupermarket.com

You are getting sky+ for silly money if you quote the sale code.

Re: Internet Service providers

Thanks for that info. Sky is in the process of upping their prices if anyone is thinking of joining. In essential they are doubling their prices unless you take out their phone package.

I think I will be going with Virgin, the full package, 20mbps, tv and phone. Will save about £15/month on what I will pay if I stay with Sky, and that includes having the HD V+ option, which I dont have with Sky.

Re: Internet Service providers

The other thing is that it depends whether you want a package with phone/mobile/tv channels etc as there are some good packages around. My mum recently asked me the same question when she joined us in the 21st century and bought a laptop and she started by looking at www.moneysupermarket.com and then phoning the top 3 or 4 priced ones to see how she found them on the phone as this is usually a good indicator of how they will be if you have problems and need their help! She ended up with O2. We have Zen but it'spaid for by my partner's work so have no idea how much it costs or what they're like as all done through work. Never needed to phone them for help though!

Re: Internet Service providers

He only said sky cause he knew someone that moved who said it was cheaper but as far as l am concerned l know what we get l like our package and sky can not match things to my satisfaction.

Re: Internet Service providers

We use virgin. Some folks say do not like them but have had them since they were telewest it has to be a good 11 or 12 years and l am happy enough with them. Have unlimited broadband, tv full package if we wanted could add sport or movies but do not have a use for them we have loads of channels. And also have a phone line as part of the package but use it as our fax so never use it for calls.

Speed wise not sure as not got the bill am not due home till friday so can look then, but lets face it it does not matter how fast it is if your computer is slow. People overlook that when they discuss speeds. All l know is that it is fast enough for what l use it for, l do moan about my isp at times but so does everyone overall l am happy.
Hub has discussed changing to sky but l do not want to move and as l use the things the most it is my final say.
