If you try and get a job in a regional area you'll have more luck....I got sponsored from the UK and have been here 2 years.

This is all very exciting news that Aus is finally recognising us VN's. As someone said before, our training makes it very easy to get a job, and they need well trained nurses!!

I will defo be enquiring about this deeper. WIll keep you guys posted! For now, to find a sponsership practice!!!

Thanks for your enquiry with Overseas Emigration; It would appear that both your occupations are on the schedule 4 list – this means that you would be eligible for a permanent visa if you are on any of the State lists.

Will def be keeping an eye on this thread as am planning on moving to Australia @ somepoint in the future. Got to qualify 1st (fingers crossed tomorrow!) then save like crazy. Already visited 5 times in the past 6 yrs, found an area to settle that we like. Last time went looking around some practices that were kind enough to show me round. Really like their work/play balance esp since I have a toddler! Just been waiting for immigration changes to happen (agent we spoke to in Feb said "big changes" will be happening all through 2010) so hopefully

Hi, I returned from Oz in August 2009 having spent a year working out there. I was offered a sponsorship with a practice and my boss hired an immigration lawyer and the whole process took over several months but they turned me down in the end because some new laws had come into play and it was at the time of the recession!! Boo! I am still looking into getting over there as another practice has offered sponsorship, so any news would be great :-) It's a shame we are not on the skills shortage list as I didn't struggle to find work and they love UK VN's as we are so much better trained, lets hope things in the immigration have changed :-)

On this site (i cant find it now) but vet nursing is on the list!!!!!

It is not the "skills" list so to speak, but on an extended business visa, which is 1day-4years providing you have a place of work (as i understand it) and costs in the region of £400!

we don't have enough points either as my hubby IS on the skills list but doesn't have a degree in his field!

would've been great as i a vet sister in law out there with lots of job contacts

I just checked too, can't seen anything, we were short on points last time we applied because Veterinary Nurses aren't even on the list, so big fat zero points there! Would be great if they have added us.

I have just looked on the july 2010 skills shortage list, and registered nurse is on there, but no veterinary nurse :(

OMG this post just made me the most excited person in Britain!!!!! I spoke to the eqivilent of the BNVA in Oz, and they said there was no plans to do this!

Any info you can find out, i would love you forever!!!
