I thought when you have lifetime cover you pay one excess per condition per year.
My cat was ill in june, turns out we think he was poisoned, (presented

Re: insurance excesses

hmmm no i think PP's age is 10 for cats cos they have upped the limit for taking out new policies to that. my guys are 8 and have the cheaper excess still

Re: insurance excesses

He's 7 i'm not sure what age petplan class as older cat I think it's 8 isn't it?

I'm north london so have a higher excess than lots of other areas!

Re: insurance excesses

cant add anything to the above posts

has your cat just gone into the older cat bracket....just wondering why your excess has gone up £20 my excess is only £70 as far as i know!!!

Re: insurance excesses

:sigh: it does make sense. Just never had a claim so close to renewal so never been in this position before so got myself all confused! I steer clear of claims with clients and leave it up to reception.

Pain in the behind as petplan have just put my excess up from £85 to £105 and as work paid my last excess they won't pay this one, and because it's an insurance claim and he may need further bloods they can't put my discount onto the last bill!

He seems to be ok now which is the main thing...I think he may have licked/eaten something dodgy

Re: insurance excesses

Spot on! :D can you come talk to my client?
I hope that makes sense?? Sorry if that is no help at all!!

I do the claim forms where I work and there are a few that are on long term meds and this sounds familiar

Re: insurance excesses

one insurance excess per condition per policy year. That's with petplan.

Same thing happened to me, my ins renews 24th December, cat had tx 23rd, vet forgot to disp antibiotics and did the next day, but fell into new policy year.

Don't get me started on other ins co's! Always arguing with 1 client about her ins excess. Have spoken to her ins co loads of times, and told her to call them (she never does) but every time.....

Re: insurance excesses

You pay an excess per condition per POLICY year with Pet Plan. So if your renewal date is 1st July then you pay an excess for the condition on the fees accumulated in the period 01/07/09-01/07/10 and now another excess for the condition on the fees accumulated in the period 01/07/10-01/07/11 and so on.

This is fairly standard practice in pet insurance.

Re: insurance excesses

Its one excess per policy year, so you are just unlucky its gone into the next policy year.
