I used the royal canin kit, it had the milk and the bottle in the kit.......i found the bottle was much better than using a syringe(took a few goes for the kittens to get the hang of it) but very successful

I think they suffer from aerophagia when the suckle, which is why you get the bloating. I've seen a range of GI upsets over the years from constipation to diarrhoea. I think jiggling around with the cimicat/ water ratio may help.

Also try kittystim, I've found it really helps too.

When I was at college doing BTEC one lecturer who was a VN recommended using one of the plastic washing up scourers to encourage defaecation as this is similar to the barbs on the tongue

they have had no d+ at all, initially they were constipated, so i increased water:cimicat ratio and this helped, however the faeces are only rice grain sized so i am unsure as to whether or not they are still a bit costipated.

I am feeding using a syringe, i am careful there are no air bubbles in syringe but sometimes they loose their hold on the syringe and may gulp in some air....

Is there anything i can do to relieve costipation (if they are?) or help with the gas?

Most of the kittens I have hand reared as some point have had terrible d+ that causes bloating, have you wiped their gentiles with moisten cotton wool to encourage defecation and urination ?

Do they suck any air from the bottle?
