I'm prone to mouth ones as part of my Crohn's, I usually gargle with either salt water, dilute TCP or keep the bonjela handy!

Re: Ulcers

Agree, saline mouth wash best: alcohol in the commercial stuff can be a problem

Try herbal/health food shop type toothpaste, as ingredients in 'normal' toothpaste can be a trigger too.. Takes some getting used to the flavour, but well worth it

Take a good Vitamin B supplement, preferably without yeast in it (Healthspan do a v vgood one) This is vital: if I stop taking my Vit B my ulcers come back

Agree, could well be hormonal. If it's any consolation, it improves with age/the menopause!! :)

Also , check you don't have a candida problem. Reduce sugar, acids etc in diet: be aware of any food triggers eg acidic fruit/veg; canned drinks etc

Hope some of this helps, I know how painful this is. Swollen tongue, ulcerated throat etc is not much fun (Makes you feel for any cats/pets who get this too....)

'Rodent' ulcers used to be a huge pain to me, but with the above and help from\ the dental hospital (referral from your dentist) am now clear!

They really hurt so cant talk properly as they keep catching my teeth! I had 1 last year that got infected and had to take 2 days off work as could not talk at all, was drooling and couldnt eat! Felt very stupid taking time off for a sore tongue but unbelievably painful. Did actually go in the first day and got sent home so at least they knew I wasnt making it up. Get yourself a decent mouthwash its the best way to sort them, and gargle with soluble aspirin.
