I tend to syringe mine, but with a very similar thing.

I had a similar problem with my last pigeon - although it was a collared dove! Ended up taking him to Vale wildlife who soft released him. Just try to spend as little time with him as possible, as hard as it is!

Also, be very careful about monitoring how much you feed and how full his crop is, my last one had to be euthanased after getting terrible sour crop. I was gutted. My current two - 'Runty' and 'Chubbs' are thriving, and 'Runty' still hates the site of me!

Re: pigeon help needed

thanks guys, i know the egg food u mean, "Peter "looks ok so far! !!

Re: pigeon help needed

I had 2 pigeon fledglings from very young and successfully fed them on soaked dry dog food, which you can push down in peices, or whole as they get older, its pretty easy to come by and cheap-in fact, the cheaper the better, as cheaper stuff probably has more maize etc in.

I would take them on very reluctantly, though, as the two I had were extremely dependant and humanised, they were released eventually, but I'm pretty sure they were killed by local cats, as I found a suspect dead bird a few days after I released them. They take much longer, generally to rear than most birds (hand-reared, or as nature intended!)

Re: pigeon help needed

The best thing to do is get to a petshop and get some of the bird seed called 'egg food' for now. You can then soak and syringe it for now. I have 2 pigeon babies at the moment and will give you the proper longer term food once I get home and get time. But egg food for now!

If you can't get away for a couple of hours syringing some rehydration fluid into the crop just for now will do to keep it going until you can get some proper food.

Good luck!
