We run an obesitiy clinic in work. I have just four clients so far but one of them has a West Highland Terrier who is on prednisolone - quarter of a tablet every three days. The owner reports lots of begging and needs to give 'a bit of chicken

Re: Obese dog on Prednisolone

Hi Everyone,

Thanks so much for your replies. I think I will try the Satiety diet and see how we get on. Will also mention it to her vet that maybe some underlying problem mught be causing the lack of weight loss and begging. Thanks again, great to know that there is such a great support network out there

Re: Obese dog on Prednisolone

[quote user="Hannah Jones RVN A1"]

Just a thought but has the dog been on long term preds? Just worth considering cushings or underlying cause of weight gain/increased appetite if she has. As i said just i thought could be on completely the wrong track but always worth considering.

It's more filling than other weight loss foods and works well with dogs who are constantly hungry and place some of the ration into Kongs/Buster cubes to keep mobile.

Poor old long term Preds dogs, they do have a rough time!
