Could show the history of veterinary nursing, how much fantastic work we actually do, touch on training (so many people just do not understand how much hard work we put in to qualify - whether in college or university) etc etc - any more ideas?

That would be fabulous!

Personally, if such a thing came about, I'd want it to focus on the fact we are not mini vets, we are not trying to be vets, and we actually get taught things thats vets don't, such as... ooo I dunno...Oh yeah - NURSING! Not vetting!

Count me in! was chatting with someone yesterday about trying to incorporate the petition and the 50th anniversary of veterinary nursing . and said they would be in touch with me so will keep you guys posted.

There is also going to be an interview in the VN Times about me getting my award!

Maybe someone should speak to a newspaper and actually show them exactly what a veterinary nurse does. I know there was that one recently which was done by a vet from another country acting as a VN. Maybe get an actual qualified VN involved and make the public aware of the hard work we all put in and how our job isn't all about cuddling puppies all day.

Morning...or afternoon all.. ,

I just want to say that any demonstration or march etc will be a peaceful one, afterall we want to be seen as professionals, so we should act accordingly.

Is anyone doing anything for VN week? if so maybe we could highlight our lack of recognition. Also any suggestions to raise public awareness would be appreciated.

Well you would have a couple of months to organise it and spread the word, and I am sure that most of the BVNA congress attendees would be in favour, as would, I hope, the BVNA themselves!

And Nick getting his award will attract some veterinary publicity anyway - so why not use that?
