yes I wondered that too - but in that case case how much of an offence has she committed?

ie if the vet had been qualified and she was working under their direction she hasnt but because the vet doesnt appear to be qualified she has?

I'm wondering if this was taken more seriously because she was working under the apparent direction of somebody posing to be a vet. In practice if the vet tells the unqualified to do something it is under their guidance and therefore it is down to the vet if something goes wrong whereas in this situation I guess they're both at fault.

yes I was having exactly this conversation with somebody the other night.

I would really like to know exactly what the lady in the article did that was in contravention of the VSA? and then compare it to what goes on in practice.

I am not sticking up for this lady - I am not out to cause trouble but I am mystified by the dual standards

And in adult ed SVN's are still regularly taught by people with no experience of lecturing, no qualifications and no evidence fo further CPD from the day they qualified.

In fact the awarding body (RCVS) employ people in their education dept with no educational experience or quals (including head of dept).

Just out of interest, have you seen the news coverage of unqualified teachers teaching children in schools? The unqualified teachers are teaching assistants. I remembered this thread when I saw it.

Yes have seen the articles on teaching assistants and have also seen how some of the qualified teachers have been and still are kicking off.

Anyone can call themselves a Veterinary Nurse at the moment, but I thought the post nominals VN were protected?

lets bloody hope so Sal..... I was having a major party at this TBH..albeit.... in a quiet fist in the air sort of way!!! yeeeeee at last someone has been "done" for impersonating a VN.......protect the title.... folks and this kind of thing will be prosecuted at every opportunity.... lets face it, dont pass yourself off as one......, you wont get charged.. and the "gulible public, wont get taken the piss out of, cause lets face it.... if you are pretending, then you are takin the piss..... out of everyone.... and the VET who lets you....... is takin the piss outa YOU!!!!! so open your eyes........... get a qualification and get on the road to "RESPECT"

im confused...i thought anybody could call themselves a veterinary nurse? not that im glad some action is now being taken but im not very good with the political side of anyhting lol but i thought that has been the biggest quam? that anybody could call themselves a veterinary?
