The 3rd party liability is excluded. Too much of a risk assessment for claims by people getting bitten, and often they are guard dogs.

I can kinda see petplan's point, there is more of a risk of pets at work potentially getting something from the inp's esp at our job. In the case of other types of work, there is the risk of people getting bitten/work related issues. I bet all the other ins co's have the same exclusions in their policy.

Not heard the uninsured at work though, how nice of them, they would rather we left them at home to develop behavioural issues they have to pay for then would they?! Insure is meant to help not hinder.

Re: taking your dog to work

god, course i don't leave him in the car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't even travel with my dogs in the car on warm days as I don't have air con and I'm terrified of getting stuck in traffic when its sunny! Car is almost blacked out with sun shades and window cover thingys and have reflective silver roof cover to keep heat off even in the winter on sunny days!

Yes was just to retract what I said to them so they wouldn't put an exclusion on him. poss. I got it wrong bout the illness part then, had lost the will to live by that part of the conversation as had spoken to 2 different supervisors etc.

Re: taking your dog to work

I just insured my puppy and yes they said she was excluded for third party cover while on work premises, as I take her in everyday. I had to speak to a supervisor to explain that the dog would stay in the car in the public road and not on the work premises at anytime or hay said they would have to put a an exclusion on his policy. They said its normal to exclude any accident or illness if it occurs at a place of work.

Re: taking your dog to work

[quote user="Steph Worsley RVN MBVNA"]

Just spoke to one of the long standing Petplan reps and her words were:

"Rubbish! if you take them to work they are not covered for 3rd party liability as work premises should cover it but everything else is ok."
