I've found a practice with a vacancy for a student veterinary nurse.

I have sent out around 30 letters to different practices that i know are on the rcvs website listed as a training practice, I have had some response although they have all said no.

I will keep trying! I will send a letter and my cv to the practice that has been mentioned :_)

I am also hopefully going to be trained up within the endoscopy unit so i have more knowledge on the set up scopes, their cleaning and how they are used for each patient/species.

I work at Wood Street, no vacancies at present. Although may be worth sending in your CV to be kept on file, I can't see a student vacancy coming up any time soon but you never know and you'd be ideal.

If I were you I'd send my CV and a covering letter to all TPs in the area, as if anyone is thinking of looking for a trainee you'd be a fantastic person to have! If I hear of anything anywhere I'll let you know.

Try wood street vet hosp in barnet. i used to be there- they are brilliant with great varied case load, laprascope, endoscope with video, digital xrays,ultrasound

They told me they can't train me via the nvq/diploma route as they are a referral practice and so can't train me with all what is required e.g. neutering, vaccinactions etc. It is a shame really as it would be the ideal place to learn.

I have a gained a vast amount of experience as a patient care assiatnt. I assist the nurses/clincians. I have taken blood and adminstered medication orally and intravenously. I also regularly assist with blood donations, and I do all the feeding, walking the dogs, cleaning etc.

I have found one vacancy so fingers crossed it goes well, other wise it will mean me pestering more practices :-)

Do they not have training vacancies within the Queen Mother Hospital? What is your role there at the moment?

If not, then at least your experience there will look good on your CV
