I know it's really tempting to look for the bottom line for car insurance but try to go for a major brand, they usually have a reliable claims service. It's only when you make a claim you really get your moneys worth, a good company will settel a claim in weeks a bad can take months. In other words don't go for someone you have never heard of you end up paying for it the end!

Sorry for the hideously old and boring advice, being an old bag gives you experience of insurance claims!

[/quote]

Oh I know this only too well! I had a bad car accident a few years ago which totally wasn't my fault. Insurance company were rubbish, it took 18months to settle and was weeks away from court before the 3rd party suddenly admitted she was at fault.

For the above reason I always have legal expenses cover, as I wouldn't have been able to pursue it through to court if I hadn't been covered...and a courtesy car because it took them 8weeks to fix my car!

Just found out that if I add my OH as a named driver it cuts my premium by a couple of hundred pounds! Think its because I'm 24 and insurance companies only like people over 25

Re: car insurance

I know it's really tempting to look for the bottom line for car insurance but try to go for a major brand, they usually have a reliable claims service. It's only when you make a claim you really get your moneys worth, a good company will settel a claim in weeks a bad can take months.
