i'm 23 and want to become a veterinary nurse- i'm hoping for an appenticeship and have previously studied animal management but i'm having trouble finding a "way

Re: getting into a practice

Voluntary work! Whether in a vets at weekends (that's what I did - shows dedication in that you will give up your weekends to clean kennels etc while all your friends are probably out having fun). . . . failing that, voluntary work in a kennels, cattery, rescue centre, stables. What is your past work experience like? There's lots of competition for places so you need something that really makes you stand out.

I'd also recommend having a play with your CV - feel free to ask on here for people to look at it and give advice. Everyone's really helpful

Re: getting into a practice

Get some experience. Volunteer in a training practice that way if a position comes up you have your foot in the door. Many of our trainee nurses were saturday kennel maids or evening cleaners.

Apply for auxillery nurse places if there are any.

If you've read many of the posts on here, alot of people with years of experience are still looking for a training post. They are few and far between and 100s of applicants for each job so stiff competition.

Good luck and keep trying
