Way before I was an SVN, I had a male tortie, a kitten from a litter that I took in to rehome...

The litter was of five, four tortie's and one tabby/white.

When I took them in for their first vaccinations and check up etc, the vet and I were talking about how I took one look at them and gave them all girl's names kind of thing, while she checked the first kitten, the tabby and white, female... Got to the second tortie and her face find of did that 'huh? No. What? Am I insane?' look, and asked me if I could wait while she took the kitten out the back to speak to another vet...

Over the course of about ten minutes, literally every one of the nurses, vets and member of the pet shop staff (this was in a Companion Care) working at that point trailed past me for a look, before the vet, finally reassured by about 20 other people's opinion, came back and told me that it was a boy!

She did also say that he was almost certainly (or maybe certainly?) sterile. And then took lots of pictures of him and his tail region, as did several nurses!

But that is the only one I have ever known, or known of.

I hate this advert, but I feel bad, a friend of mine's cat was the Whiskas cat, we filmed the Whiskas tops ad (which was a fab couple of days, food, pay, the cats were spoilt) but this was a very long time ago, before I was a nurse.

But, this is what bothers me about the advert. "Alfie" looks like a cat in Kidney Failure....very skinny looking with sticky fur.....

Or maybe hyperthyroid, as he goes next door to eat that cats food.

Maybe it's just me......xx

OMG i'm sooo pleased i caught this thread as i felt stupid constantly ranting when the ad came on as my fella must be thinking 'how sad', so now i just sit quietly and fume. arggh!

OMG i'm so glad i'm not the only one to think this!! bugs me every time on many levels:

very slim chance that alfie is a boy

encourageing other cats in the house, give your own cat behaviour probs, and poor owners of the "friend" who comes for dinner, may be on a diet or on presciption food

Also, really! do you think the actual meet content in that food is any where near the quality of the meet she is grilling, prob just 4% meat and is prob the head, feet and feathers!

How are owners meant to learn with ads like this! sad thing is they think its great!!!

god that feels good to rant at the end of the day, think this forum should be forwarded to whiskas

my cats will stay and come (usually when food is involved) but will usually behave quite well, mum's cats also stay its great!

the advert doesn't really bug me (i have other things to be bugged about and dont watch that much tv anyway!!)

but I have seen the ad and wondered if they realised, however I have seen a male tortie!!! it was in to be castrated (yes it did have a penis and 2 testicles!!)

Haha, this really bugged me when I first saw it. Everything about it was just wrong, wrong, wrong!

I mentioned it to a colleague, then she pretty much had the same rant about it that me and you did!

Also... Does anyone else find the fact they endorse letting another cat come into their house and eat their cats food infuriating?! One of the most stressful things that can happen to a cat is home invasion and there's a bloody bigpet food company saying yay! invite your cats friends round for tea!

Lol mistakes make for successful marketing - people more likely to remember them!

Whoops about the Whsikers! When I types it, something said 'no Beth, somethings not right' but I just kept going.

As does people calling Whiskas, Whiskers. but hey ho... lol Frontline Combi.. when it's Combo and Brought when it's Bought gets me too so don't feel bad!! :)

Bugs me and my boyfriend every time we see the advert. Especially as Lucy looks like a male! Any one else noticed that?
