Oh no! What was his TLI value after fasting? Also what sort of sample did you send off to Langford and how long before you sent it to them after you took the sample? I still would recommend having a crack with a microscope and seeing what you see with a very fresh loop sample in saline.

I rarely do microscopy on faecal samples so it's off to the lab as I wouldn't be able to confidently identify anything. faecal microscopy is not my area of expertise
Have you got your TLI results for him to confirm the EPI? If so fair enough but if not why not try it? you can search on the internet for photos of what TF looks like, pop it on a slide, smear or pool, dye etc and have a peek. Have a personal experiment for his sake :) the fresher the sample the better with TF. you risk having false results as soon as you say send off... isn't your vet lab savvy? I'm sure someone with a bit more experience than I could walk you through it. If you find something you THINK might be TF then you can just do another sample, maybe a different way, there are a few types of sampling for TF. Some are listed in that paper I sent you. Then speak to Langford about sending a TF specific sample. I would hate to rule it out so fast as EPI is a tough one for long term treatment :(

Yep, 5 day treatment for T.Foetus also. and a secondary course running now.

Haven't looked at faeces under scope as T.Foetus is only visible under 200x and ours isn't strong enough. and I'd prefer a lab to look as they're experts whereas I rarely look at faeces under the microscope.
would you like some interesting literature?
that's odd i thought it was best found at 100X

I will email you some interesting lit re TF but it's from 2007 so i'm sure some of the stuff might be a little dated. but there is still some good info.
