I had my mock level 2 exams today at college.I think i did ok in them, considering nearly every question bar a handful of them were taken from our VRQ tests we've been doing throughout the year!!

And they didnt c heck their papers at all before getting us to do them, cos at least 3 questions were repeated throughout the test at least 2 or 3 times!!! Was getting a little silly to be honest.

I've spent most of my time up till now concentrating on the practical exams so now its 3 weeks hard work on revision! I feel quietly confident but dont want to jinx myself. I've got mock exams at college on Tuesday so will see how I fare in those....

SO glad they're over and done with for now. Think i managed to keep a pretty level head so fingers crossed now. Don't fancy going through it again so really hope i passed. How is everyone feeling about writtens?

On my degree course we didn't do the same practicals as the NVQ students as we did them at uni. I was always at the beginning of the day because my surname begins with B and they didn't change the tasks so for people later in the day they would find out what we had done and so be able to look over the sheets beforehand! Very unfair!

but there is something that bothers me a bit about this thread

on the Saturday , and I feel it wasnt intentional , just relief that it was all over there were details of what was included among the practical tasks made in posts. Now I know there may have been different tasks chosen for the sunday - as it happens it sounds like there wasnt - but details mentioned on here on the saturday gave those on the sunday a heads up' on what could be coming.

we have to laugh, how many of us can set up a drip and mostly end up ataching the damn dog/cat ourselves with no help!! ive certainly had to, how many of us have delivered puppies by cesaerian in the middle of the night, i bet we all have, how many x rays do we all do during a day?? how many times do we do an anaesthetic? how many bandages have we all put on, ran a blood sample, done a blood smear!!!!! c we have all done it many many times, lets all raise our wine glass and laugh!!! weve all passed whatever they say.

mine were a complete disaster on sunday :( forgot to chech the APL valve!!! I knew what I had done as soon as I left the room.

Then I ran out of time on fluid therapy trying to clear a stupid bubble in the giving set and the vetergesic task went completely wrong :( simple calculation and somehow i dont know how i got answer of 0.15 instead of 1.5ml i was in such a fluster that after drawing up the wrong dose i accidently squirted half of it out and had to start again . but having the wrong calculation is FAIL. omg i feel so stupid. And hope the radiography was ok but so hard to do on the stuffed toy!!definatley not looking forward to the results!!

Would you fail for putting a rubber cap on the instruments? Im pretty sure ive failed anyway but just wondered. When i started revising these tasks i hated radiography, now after my exam its the only task where i cant think of anything i did wrong!

Thats exactly how I feel! Especially because I'd been worrying about being able to get position right with the fake dog, got that right but stuck in a grid instead! Everyone at worl is being nice and said that I did 'use all necessary equipment', just stuck in an extra bit! ...I'm not so sure! Think the rest went ok though as far as I know, so fingers crossed.

I had exactly the same tasks as you Phrin! I think they all went ok apart from I had a complete mind blank/spastic moment in the Vetergesic task. I forgot to write down giving the medication ( I was thinking 'oh why is there a clock on the table - totally didnt click!) and then I RECAPPED THE NEEDLE!!!!!!!!! Total FAIL!! Ha ha! I think I did ok on the rest though. Did they ask you any questions at the end? I thought most of the examiners were really friendly.

I'm sure you'll be fine - you only need to pass 5/8 so don't worry about fluids.

I know what you mean about results though - going to try and forget about it til then!

Hi Steph

Sounds like you did great!

I had mine this morning. Had closed gloving.. I almost forgot the back ties, but apart from that I think I was OK, although am paranoid I comprimised 'sterility' and didn't notice! Then had tib/fib rad, used a small plate, no grid, and labelled etc, placed a wedge under the stifle, but didn't place a sandbag over the distal end of the limb being xrayed. Then had an ear dressing, and the mini lack task, both of which I *think* went OK, then had the buprenorphine task - think it was OK, but just have a nagging feeling I did something wrong (Despite checking the oskeys after), then the instruments and packaging, which were OK - gelpies, gillies, babcocks, allis tissue, olsen hagar, mayo, metzenbaums, halstead mosquito, spencer wells, and packing up a pair of iris scissors, then had PCV which I think was OK - lovely examiner too, and finally fluid therapy. All went well until, with 30 secs left I noticed a tiny air bubble just below the chamber and started panicking and babbling on..... didn't have time to flush it through

No point in stressing about it now - its done (THANK GOODNESS!), although I will probably start a thread in late July about how scared I am about results LOL!
