Another practice which had lots of staff also did routine ops however there was two vets to do the consults and another to operate and plenty of nursing staff so this worked well. We do have two vets, but both consult through the morning, then only one in the afternoon so the first vet is free to do any &amp;#39;emergency&amp;#39; ops we have admitted through the day e.g. cat bite abscesses etc&lt;/p&gt;

We don&amp;#39;t book in routine ops but will do one or two small ops if necessary and possible. It&amp;#39;s really only one of our vets that likes to book lots in for a weekend and the other hates it. We are shorter staffed on a weekend and so would be leaving ourselves open to disaster should an emergency come in.&lt;/p&gt;

We are a Companion Care practice and I&amp;#39;ve heard that other CC practices do book routine ops in over the weekend, not sure if they do on Sundays though. &lt;/p&gt;
